Police action is being taken against a man who intentionally accelerated before driving directly at three riders. The action means that if he does anything similar, his vehicle could be confiscated.

Denise Richardson and two friends were on a hack in Co. Durham last month, when a car approached them.

“A car with blacked-out windows came over the brow of the hill and stopped. I thought the driver was waiting for us but then all of a sudden he sped up and veered across the road towards us,”

“I asked him to slow down but as he passed the passenger stuck his fingers up at us.”
